Caribbean Court day centre in Highfields, with the support of The Race Equality Centre (TREC), applied to national Friends of the Earth for a grant to plant a wildlife-friendly garden and they received £500. The Chair of Trustees, Albert, used the money to buy shrubs, ferns and spring bulbs and asked if we could help with the planting. Of course we said yes!
We had a lovely Sunday afternoon clearing a patch of ground and filling it with their new plants and bulbs. The volunteers at the Caribbean Court then provided us with tea and delicious Caribbean refreshments, which were very welcome! It was good to be out and about doing some practical activism again.
